BG Scent Rabbit Ball

The BG Scent Rabbit Ball is a trainer-led gundog training tool designed and tested by gundog trainer Ben Randall of Beggarbush Gundogs. Built to create a stronger, more realistic rabbit scent line, it is covered in rabbit skin and weighted to travel at speed, making it ideal for developing nose-led retrieves, marking and committed hunting on the ground.

This is a purposeful training aid, not a basic play ball. The balance and weight help it run on hard ground and down hills, leaving a clear rabbit scent line from the fall, helping dogs learn to hunt the line and locate the retrieve with intent.

Sizing and Weight

  • Small: approx. 4.1 inches including rabbit skin, approx. 290g
  • Large: approx. 5 inches including rabbit skin, approx. 500g

Why Use a Scent Rabbit Ball

The rabbit skin helps lay a natural scent line as the ball moves, encouraging nose-down hunting rather than purely sight chasing. The extra weight and balance increase ground travel and consistency, so the dog has a clearer line to work from the fall and a more realistic retrieve task to complete.

Key Features

  • Designed and tested by gundog trainer Ben Randall of Beggarbush Gundogs.
  • Real rabbit skin cover for natural scent and tactile realism.
  • Weighted for high-speed ground travel and consistent rolling.
  • Available in Small (approx. 290g / 4.1″) and Large (approx. 500g / 5″).

Perfect For

  • Building nose-led retrieves and stronger scent line commitment
  • Improving marking accuracy, especially when the retrieve runs on after the fall
  • Training on hard ground, slopes and in light cover where a moving retrieve builds realism
  • Developing spaniels and retrievers that need more purpose and intent on ground game scenarios
