BG Distance Rabbit Ball
The BG Distance Rabbit Ball is a specialised marking and retrieve training tool designed to challenge and refine a dog’s marking ability over longer distances. Created in collaboration with gundog trainer Ben Randall of Beggarbush Gundogs, this ball combines a weighted rabbit-skin exterior with an attached rope to improve throwability and scent line realism — making it an effective progression tool for more advanced training sessions.
Unlike a standard play ball, the BG Distance Rabbit Ball encourages you to throw further and gives your dog a clear scent line to work from, while conveying natural game cues through the rabbit skin. The rope also acts as a “pheasant tail,” helping dogs learn correct head placement and release behaviours during the retrieve.
Sizing & Weight
- Small: Approx. 3 in diameter (including rabbit skin), rope ~12 in, ~125 g
- Large: Approx. 3.7 in diameter (including rabbit skin), rope ~12 in, ~300 g
Why Use a Distance Rabbit Ball
The BG Distance Rabbit Ball is more than a basic retrieve target — it’s designed to simulate the scent and motion of ground game while also challenging your dog to mark and commit over longer throws. The combination of the rabbit skin scent and rope-assisted range encourages dogs to hunt the line with nose-down focus, improving both confidence and marking ability as they progress toward realistic field conditions.
