Training Line – Long Distance Control Lead for Recall, Obedience and Field Training
The Sporting Saint Training Line is built for structured recall and control work, giving dogs freedom to move while keeping the handler connected and in control. Made in the UK by Sporting Saint and designed with gundog trainers, this line is soft in the hand but strong, using cushion polypropylene webbing for practical everyday training.
Available in multiple lengths, each line is finished with a clip on the end, making it quick to attach and reliable in use across training environments.

The Puppy Training Line
Manufactured by Sporting Saint, the Puppy Training Line was designed by Anne Neale, professional dog trainer behind Training With Kindness. It is 5m in length and specifically specced for young dogs, with Anne noting that the lightness of the line and clip works well with flat collars, particularly as not all puppies can wear a harness when very young, and some may be sensitive to harnesses.

Perfect For
A training line is ideal for building reliable recall and control at distance without rushing off-lead freedom. It supports progressive training by letting you increase distance while keeping clean, consistent handling and timing, especially useful for early-stage work and structured field drills.
- Not intended to be used for road/ street walking.
- Advise use of gloves in wet/ cold weather.
- While these lines may be longer term for smaller breeds, medium/ larger breeds should consider changing to an adult line as they mature. For example, we used the 5-metre line with our Flatcoated Retriever puppy as his weight was nearing 28-30 kg.
