We are delighted to have worked with David Milne of Druidsmere Gundogs who is based in Perthshire to bring the Druidsmere PVC Streamer – Launcher Dummy to life!
David is a Gundog trainer and competitor, recently competing in the IGL retriever championship qualifier in 2023 and 2024 with Rumbleton Ginevier and Julval Beauty of Druidsmere respectively.
Another successful season running 3 open qualifying retriever bitches and a novice bitch in trials who all either won a trial or made the awards.
David – About the launcher dummy, he has designed.
“The remote dummy launcher is a great multipurpose training aid with many uses for the modern gundog trainer. One of its uses being a visual marking aid.
When used as a visual marking aid the dummy should be as highly visible as possible to give the dog the best chance to pick by sight.
Attention to detail is paramount in order to compete at the highest level, so in this instance, I don’t want it to turn into a hunting exercise where the dog uses her nose to find the dummy. I’m looking for her to go straight to the fall and pick by sight. The difference can be noted.
These dummies are designed to be highly visible, durable and easy to keep clean so they do the job time and time again.
The long wide streamers movement offers a more natural flight, so the dog can follow them easily in the air. Perfect for long distance work. The wide fluttering tails also creates a noise in the air to simulate the flapping of wings to really focus the dogs attention and give her the best opportunity to visually mark successfully”
