Andy Cullen MBE – His Legacy

Andy also played an important role in reviewing and testing products, including the DTT6 Blank Firer featured below, ensuring they met the high standards expected by working dog trainers and handlers.

More about Andy

Andy Cullen MBE was one of the most respected and influential gundog trainers of his generation. Based at Laochin Gundogs in Northumberland, Andy dedicated his life to training, working, trialling and educating handlers across the UK and beyond. His patient approach, wealth of knowledge and passion for working dogs earned him widespread respect throughout the gundog community.

Over many years, Andy worked closely with Sporting Saint, helping to develop practical training equipment designed to improve the relationship between dog and handler. His experience in the field, combined with a deep understanding of canine behaviour, played a key role in shaping several products that remain popular with trainers today.

Sadly, Andy passed away in 2026 following a battle with cancer, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy within the gundog world. He is remembered as a true gentleman, an outstanding trainer and a passionate advocate for working dogs.

We remain incredibly proud to have worked alongside Andy and to continue offering the training products and concepts he helped create. His influence lives on through the countless handlers and dogs he inspired, and through the equipment that continues to support training in the field today.
